Cecilia Wang

Cecilia(Xi) Wang is a design researcher, educator, and practitioner. She currently works at the School of Design in the University of Cincinnati as a postdoctoral fellow and researcher. She got her Ph.D. of design in the School of Design at Jiangnan University and the University of Cincinnati (joint), and her advisor is Prof. Xin Xiangyang and Craig M. Vogel. Cecilia(Xi) Wang has participated in a number of online and offline design research and service product development projects and has rich design and research academic and industrial experience. Wang Xi as a team leader or member of the company including Cincinnati Children's Hospital (USA), Procter & Gamble (USA), Boeing (USA), Aurora Group (China), Huawei (China), etc., project content and field coverage of the king Medical health design, interaction design, service design, integrated professional design, social innovation design, etc.

Background information

According to Herbert Simon, everyone designs who devises courses of actions aimed at 

changing existing situation into preferred ones. Design is no longer a traditional design of physical properties (including physical properties such as color, material, and function), but rather the design of behaviors (including behavioral attributes such as experiences, activities, and systems). With the expansion of the design category, the design profession has expanded from industrial design, visual communication design and environmental design to interactive design, service design, social innovation design and system design. At the same time, it also brings more professional directions and fields to design researchers and practitioners. Healthcare service design is one of them.

Grouping, determining research topics, each group member introduces their commonly used research methods and ideas.

Discover the needs of all stakeholders involved in the selected topic through activities such as role-playing and behavioral simulation.

Background information

The changes that are taking place in the concept, boundaries and practices of  design in the context of the fourth industrial revolution. As design issues become more complex, the scope of design research has broadened from the study of physical properties such as color, material, and function to the study of attributes such as experience, behavior, and systems.
